Microsoft has revealed that new accessibility features have been added to its websites and the Xbox PC app.
In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Microsoft has published a recap of the efforts to make gaming more accessible over the last year. The article also reveals that new accessibility features have been added to the Microsoft Store, Xbox PC app, and more.
Microsoft continues to improve accessibility for Xbox players
Microsoft’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day article on Xbox Wire reveals that the company has expanded its accessibility support pages, which cover over 150 accessibility features, settings, and controls for PC and Xbox consoles. Additionally, the Microsoft Store now supports more than 17 languages when searching for games, and new filter settings on Xbox.com and the Microsoft Store feature 20 accessibility options for difficulty settings, subtitles, and more. For those of you who play on PC, the Xbox app now allows you the ability to disable background images and animations.
Three new accessibility partnerships have also been announced. Microsoft’s continued partnership with the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 will see it host an accessibility-focused gaming session in the athlete’s lounge with Humanelektronik in June. Athletes and Unified partners will be invited to try out a number of accessibility features during the event.
Xbox Netherlands has partnered with Paul Van Der Made and HiPerks to release a number of videos showcasing the positive impact of the Xbox adaptive controller, which will be available on XboxNL’s Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok accounts. Finally, between May and September, Xbox and Korea’s National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will be hosting a “Game Society” exhibition to highlight game accessibility.
